8 Elements of An Effective & Comfortable Sleep Appliance

Talk to ASD

Vertically Adjustable

A comfortable & effective appliance can be adjusted vertically. Most sleep appliances cannot adjust vertically without mailing them to a dental lab to add more acrylic rendering them less effective and uncomfortable. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances can easily adjust vertically chair-side by adding spacers.

Talk to ASD

Tray Material

A comfortable & effective appliance is made of soft plastic. Most sleep appliances are made of hard acrylic putting pressure on the teeth rendering them less effective and uncomfortable. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances can be made of 3 different materials: soft EVA, acrylic, or acrylic outside and soft EVA on the inside.

Talk to ASD

Unrestricted Tongue and Cheek

A comfortable & effective appliance does not restrict the cheek and tongue. Most sleep appliances have metal and plastic parts that crowd the tongue and cheek rendering them less effective and uncomfortable. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances are made to not crowd the tongue and cheek area.

Talk to ASD

Durable

An effective appliance must be durable. Many sleep appliances have anchors and bands made of plastic that break easily costing the patient and dentist time and money. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances are made of metal parts making them durable saving the patient and dentist time and money.

Talk to ASD

Adjustable in 1 mm Increments

A comfortable & effective appliance is horizontally adjustable in 1 mm increments. Most sleep appliances cannot or are difficult to adjust horizontally in 1mm increments. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances are made to adjust horizontally in 1 mm increments resulting in better treatment.

Talk to ASD

Vertical & Horizontal Movement.

A comfortable & effective appliance does not lock your jaw into one position and allows vertical and horizontal movement. Most sleep appliances lock the jaw in place and do not allow vertical and horizontal movement. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances allow vertical and horizontal movement.

Talk to ASD

Medicare Approved

Medicare and some medical insurance companies will not reimburse for a sleep appliance unless it is Medicare approved. Most sleep appliances are not Medicare approved. American Sleep Dentistry has 4 sleep appliances that are Medicare approved and reimbursable by Medicare and medical insurance.

Talk to ASD

Airflow

A comfortable appliance does not restrict the airflow. Most sleep appliances have metal and plastic parts that restrict the air flow rendering them less effective and uncomfortable. American Sleep Dentistry sleep appliances place most of the parts between the upper and lower teeth to ensure they do not crowd the tongue and cheek area.
